Press Release

June 12, 2016 was the date the world lost 49 people, and 58 others were wounded in one of the worst mass shootings in America. They were the lives of people in the LGBT+ community,  and the tragedy struck those in the community and allies alike. Thus Pride Park was born.

Pride Park Cover

Pride Park was the brainchild of Theodore Ashford and some other folks created through a group on Facebook. What we have inside the anthology are stories and poems written to honor the LGBT+ community.

The following are words from our founder Theodore Ashford:

As an LGBT person, when I first heard of the Pulse shooting, my first thought wasn’t “How do I give money to support them?” My first thought was fear, followed by thinking that fear is exactly what these sorts of terrible people want from me, and that it was time for me to stand forward, bear my colors and say “This is who I am, and if you kill me for that, so be it, but we can’t be silenced, and we are not alone in this life.” I wanted to reach out to my fellow LGBT brothers and sisters, and also to my allies, and show them that even through pain and loss, we’re all the same.

In this volume are stories and poems by members of the community and allies as well. Folks who believe that love is universal, that we are all equal when it comes to love.

One hundred percent of the profits are being donated to The Trevor Project (, a foundation to help LGBT+ youth. Their work focuses on anti-bullying strategies, suicide prevention and mental health support for those at risk.
